The City of Gig Harbor is seeking an effective manager and leader who has a clear understanding of the various facets of the Community Development Department, understands municipal government, and the many challenges cities face.?We are looking for someone who is politically astute, honest and demonstrates?integrity.


This is a new department that merges?our?current Planning?and Building Departments.?The ideal candidate will be a?positive facilitator of change and a?problem solver who focuses on solutions.?This is an excellent opportunity for a leader who enjoys a challenge and can work collaboratively with other departments, administration, and stakeholders.



QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's Degree in City and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Community and Environmental Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Public Administration, or closely related field from an accredited college or university; AND

  • Seven years of progressively responsible experience in professional municipal planning, building, engineering, or community development experience including a minimum of at least two years of experience in a supervisory capacity.

  • Relevant knowledge and experience in: development and implementation of planning, zoning, and community development goals; administration, interpretation and updating of municipal zoning ordinances, land use plans, shoreline plans; building, construction and development activities and processes, application review and development, plan review, permitting and inspections services; code enforcement.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effective relations with City Council, Boards, Commissions, businesses, community groups, stakeholders, and subordinates.

  • Attributes of a successful candidate include sound decision making; critical thinking ability; problem solving and innovation; a results-oriented approach; analytical skills; excellent written and verbal communication ability; interpersonal, customer service and diplomatic proficiency; ethical conduct; and proven top performance.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
